Placing Platform Limited (PPL)

PPL Training

Training is a key component of the roll-out strategy and support model for the PPL Platform. The various training approaches that PPL offers will enable the user to choose the method most suited to their learning style/needs. The classroom courses will enable the user to quote, negotiate, bind and endorse business digitally, using the PPL electronic placing platform or the ability to train others. All training offered is tailored to the person’s role i.e. a professional trainer, broker or underwriter.

Classroom Expert User Training

PPL offers classroom training courses held at Ebix Europe close to Liverpool Street Station. These Expert User courses are tailored to both Brokers and Underwriters and are designed so that upon completion, delegates have knowledge in order to support their colleague’s and use the system competently. Train the Trainer

This classroom-based training course is designed for professional trainers in the London Market. The course covers the Broker and Underwriter process steps during the placement of a risk within the PPL platform so that the trainer has a rounded knowledge of how the system works and has the knowledge and skills to conduct and facilitate their own internal training sessions.

PPL Training

The delivery of classroom-based training sessions will be conducted by a training instructor from Ebix. The training instructor will cover the process steps in PPL during the different placement phases from Quote; Firm Order; and Endorsement. The delegates will have a computer supplied by Ebix to obtain hands-on experience of the PPL platform. All delegates will be encouraged to follow the steps that the instructor is demonstrating. The training sessions will be as interactive as possible with the delegates being given typical ‘real-life’ scenarios for them to undertake within the Quote; Firm Order and Endorsement phases.

The following sections outline the training available.

Learning Management System (LMS)

PPL provide an online learning portal- the LMS  to all users of the platform that have been on-boarded.

The LMS was introduced as it provides the following benefits:

  • Organisations can measure the online learning that their internal teams have undertaken.
  • Organisations can monitor progress of their internal teams and track passed/failed results of the consolidation tests to confirm their level of understanding.
  • Reports at an organisation level can be created on the LMS and exported to Excel or PDF output.
  • Learners have the flexibility to undertake the training at their own desks.
  • The training is online and always available so learners can undertake the training when it suits them and refresh their knowledge at any time.
  • The training modules are tailored for the learner based on their role.
  • Visual indicators instantly show the learner the progress of their own learning.

Learning Management system can be accessed by clicking here

If you do not have access, please contact your nominated PPL project manager.

Learning Management System (LMS) – Minimum Training Requirements

Based on market feedback, we completed a study of our online training materials to work out the minimum amount of training required to use the key areas of the platform. This is not learning the full suite of training available, but the minimum required.

The timing for Brokers is just over an hour and for Underwriters, is under 45 minutes. Please click on the following links for the key learning units PPL would recommend to cover for Day 1 use of the platform.
